I went to the doctor for the first time yesterday. I was so excited and nervous for this visit because I think it made it feel "real". I met with a nurse practitioner who was so sweet and spent a ton of time with me. She answered my laundry list of questions without showing me that she thinks I'm crazy! We went through all the normal stuff about what I can and can't do during pregnancy. She even said sushi is allowed, just as long as they are rolls no sashimi, and only a little bit. This made my day. I've been craving sushi since I thought it was banned for 9 months! Anyway, she gave me a TON of reading material that I am slowly working through and some sample prenatal vitamins since I pretty much dry heave every time I try to take mine. She gave me a RX for Zofran (the best drug ever created!) So I can function like a human being and not feel like tossing my cookies 24 hours a day. I have been bumming off of a friend for the last two weeks so I can make it through my shifts at work (Thanks Jac, I really owe you!). I was told that they usually don't do an ultrasound in the office during the first visit but as I talked to the nurse practitioner I think she realized how important it was to me to see that little beating heart so she brought the US machine in and gave me a sneak peak! I go for an official ultrasound next week some time to confirm dates. She said the heart beat looked very fast and strong! I am also going to meet with a genetic counselor some time between 11 and 13 weeks, I will have another ultrasound at that appointment. Anyway, here are the US pics. I know it's just a blob right now but Matt and I think it's the cutest little blob we have ever seen!
