The ultrasound tech told us she would give us her best guess about gender based on the position of the gonads (sex organs). At the end of the ultrasound she was pretty sure I was having a BOY! She had the doctor come in and she confirmed that she was 95% sure that we were looking at a little baby boy! I had no idea they would be able to to be so sure so soon. I'm still not running out to paint my nursery blue, I'll wait until my 2nd trimester ultrasound...... just to be sure! Here are some pictures from the ultrasound just 5 out of the 70 or so they gave us. They also gave us a DVD of the whole ultrasound which i'll try to post once I figure out how to post video if it's not too long.

Big News.........
This morning I had my Nuchal Translucency ultrasound. I am officially 12 weeks and one day. This is the ultrasound where they check for downs syndrome and some other abnormalities such as some heart defects. They also drew some blood. The blood results combined with the ultrasound result (they measure the fluid under the skin at the back of the neck) will give us an approximation of the chance of baby having these abnormalities. We also met with a genetic counselor to discuss potential familial risk factors in both my family as well as Matt's family. Everything looks good both ultrasound and genetic wise. The blood results will be back in the next week or two.
