The First Week

It's hard to believe tomorrow Hudson will be one week old. We have been home from the hospital almost four days now. We love Hudson so much, every moment together is like a gift. For the most part he's been a pretty good baby. Mommy had to learn that it's okay to give Hudson a bottle at night so his tummy is full. The first two nights at home he screamed from around 11 pm to 7 am.  After I finally learned that he was just hungry and he just needed a little formula, he's been an angel. As much as it killed me to give him his first bottle, it was the kind thing to do. He gets a bottle every once in a while but pretty much breast feeds most of the time. Everyone is much happier when Hudson has a full belly.
Dasher doesn't know what to think of this little box of noise we brought home from the hospital. For the first two nights he would get up with us in the middle of the night when Hudson was crying, he would just stare at me, as if he was saying.. "Mommy make it stop, it's hurting my ears." Now he just sleeps when Hudson cries. He sniffs the baby constantly and occasionally gives him a kiss. I'd say, over all he's adjusting well.
We had our first doctors appointment yesterday. Dr. Jones said Hudson looked perfect and encouraged me to continue to supplement his feeds with formula. His weight was 7 pounds 2 ounces down from 7 pounds 4.5 ounces when we left the hospital, so we need to continue to make sure he's eating enough. We will go back in about a week and a half for another check up.
It's been nice being home for the last few days with Matt and Hudson. We have spent some good quality family time together. We don't really have a routine yet, but I'm sure we will get one pretty soon.
